About Ulnes Walton Bridleways Association (UWBA)

Ulnes Walton Bridleways Association (UWBA) was formed in 2003 to highlight the dangers faced by equestrians on our increasingly busy roads.

To this end, UWBA have encouraged and improved the use of hi-vis by local riders. They work closely with their local Council and have to date raised more than £250,000 to create a system of multi-use tracks in South Ribble. The tracks have been welcomed by all off-road users.

Ulnes Walton Bridleways Association raise money by holding two Pleasure rides each year and accessing grant funding from various sources. The association support their local riding club, and encourage de-sensitisation classes to improve safety whilst out hacking.

They group work with the BHS to record DMMOs in order to preserve historical routes in the area, and encourage local Council and Developers to include multi-use tracks, in the many new developments springing up around South Ribble & Chorley, Lancashire.

As the area changes and the population increases, the group have seen horse numbers grow proportionally.

Ulnes Walton Bridleways Association have now been established for 20+ years and their role within the local community has become recognised.

Ulnes Walton Bridleways Association will continue to promote safety and to create more off-road routes for local riders.
