Five Pits Horsewatch and Countryside Access Group

The group was set up as part of the national horse watch scheme which is supported by the Derbyshire police service. The aim being to notify horse owners of thefts, damage to premises, welfare issues and any other horse related incidents.

The group has developed to become active in promotoing safer off-road riding and has lodged with Derbyshire County Council, several applications for the development and reinstatement of bridleways throughout the local area.

Recently, the group liased with the Countryside Ranger service to reinstate the Canter Tract at Tibself (part of the Greenway Five Pits Trail). This now has a new all weather surfaceand is available for all riders. The Five Pits group are raising funds to support the maintenance of the track.
