We dedicate May to the UK’s equestrian routes; raising awareness of off-road riding and applauding the fantastic efforts of the BHS volunteers, local authorities and organisations who protect and restore multi-user routes across the UK. All while raising money for the BHS Paths for Communities Fund to help us to do more in your local area!
Kindly sponsored by Thorowgood, 2018's Ride Out UK Month will see the return of even bigger and better fundraising and photography competitions, and five lucky winners will be awarded a Thorowgood saddle of the winner's choice worth up to £645 and fitted by a qualified SMS saddler. Competition categories, terms and conditions and how to enter will be announced soon so please keep checking back.
2018 will see the return of the incredibly popular National Trust rides, which offer riders the chance to saddle up and explore beautiful scenic views over six National Trust estates, with at least one in each nation.
Ireland – 3 May Mount Stewart
Scotland – 12 May Brodie Castle & 20 May Culzean Castle
England – 21 May Clent Hills & 22 July Killerton Estate
Wales – 3 June Dolaucothi Gold Mines
As well as the National Trust, our committees, approved centres and affiliated equestrian access groups are holding events across the UK to get involved!
Find Ride Out UK Month events near you on the BHS in your area pages (event dates and entry forms will continue to be added in the run-up to May so please keep checking back).
No transport? No problem! Take part in our sponsored hacking challenges!
New for 2018, we will be running sponsored hacking challenges giving riders and carriage drivers of all abilities the chance to take part anytime, anywhere, raising money for Paths for Communities and receiving a beautiful platinum rosette and certificate to say thank you.
All you need to do is register by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, pledge or raise £15 and receive your fundraising pack so you can start riding. Set your own goal and track your hacks using an app on a smart phone (there are many available to download for free) and send us the GPX file when you're done!
If you're looking for an extra challenge, why not tackle our 70km Platinum Challenge? In our 70th year, we are challenging riders and carriage drivers to hack 70km during May and raise £70 for our Paths for Communities Fund. You don't need to do it all in one go; instead you can record your hacks using an app like 'Map My Ride' and send the GPX files to email@example.com
