BHS Warwickshire arranged a training day with a difference, delivered by Horse Agility Accredited Trainer Sheila Reed at Willicote Equestrian Centre on Sunday 1 June.
Horse Agility is a discipline in which horse and handler, both on foot, navigate a course of obstacles while focusing on clear communication and positive horsemanship.
Willicote's indoor school was prepared with an eye-popping range of very challenging obstacles and for two of the participants this was the first time they had taken part in any Horse Agility.
The ages, sizes and breeds of horses taking part were quite different, but they were able to engage with the obstacles at their own level and with Sheila's excellent instruction, very new and scary equipment was approached and previously wary horses gained confidence and technique. A taster competition was held and the participants were put to task.
Many thanks to Willicote Equestrian Centre for providing such great facilities, and allowing the use of their excellent equipment.
BHS Warwickshire would like to run more training events across the county. If you have a training need, or would like to suggest a venue, please email Trish Donnelly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
