Rider Awareness Day at RAF Shawbury

13 May 2015

RAF Shawbury held a Rider Awareness Day at the beginning of May attended by Andrea Jackman, Regional Development Officer along with Jane Kerswell, Shropshire County Chairman; Sue Lee, Shropshire Riding & Road Safety Officer; Sheila Hardy, Head of Safety and Alison Coleman, BHS Press Officer.  Their aim is to promote how important it is to wear hi viz to enable their pilots to see riders in good time and they have secured funding to provide hi viz clothing to riders within their low flying area.

We got to fly in a Griffin helicopter and learnt about flight planning and the very strict rules they have to abide by in terms of routes they can use, no fly zones and what heights they can fly at.  It really was an eye opening and we are very pleased to be working in partnership with the RAF.
