Mercia Treccies successfully defended their title on Saturday 12 May at the BHS West Midlands Region Adult Gymkhana Competition and were able to lift the Clueso Cup for the second time.
The Treccies had to fight off strong challenges from six other teams competing at South Staffordshire College, Rodbaston Campus in bending, cups, stepping stones, quoits and cone, sock and bucket, tyre and flag.
There were all sorts of horses and riders joining in the fun including a 22 year old semi retired horse on the winning team who, according to his rider, 'seemed to thoroughly enjoy himself!' In fact the combined ages of the winning team is approaching 300 years old and they proved that even though they should be old enough to know better they are still young enough to enjoy themselves.
Sue Insull from Somerford GGG’s team said; 'Our team had an absolute ball and thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely be putting a team in next year as we enjoyed it so much.'
The Clueso Cup is awarded to the winning team in memory of our late Regional Chairman, Heather Lucas, who did so much for all equestrians in the Region and is much missed.
The West Midlands Regional Committee would like to thank everyone involved in the smooth running of the day.
