Off road route now open near Upottery

4 Sept 2014

An unclassified country road, Ulcombe Lane near Upottery is now open for use.  For a long time there were locked gates at either end but thanks to negotiations between the Devon Trail Riders Fellowship, the landowner, the tenant farm and the Devon County Council Rights of Way team the lane has now been reopened.

The lane is unsurfaced and runs down the edge of two fields.  The tenant farm has been concerned that users will stray over the fields.  To help mitigate his concern DTRF have erected signs at each end.

Ullcombe Lane runs from Ullcombe, south west to Minson's Hill.  The lane is two kilometers north of Upottery.

We have been asked to inform riders to adhere to the guidance on the signs and stick to the edge of the field as we do not want the gates to be locked again.  Happy riding!
