- 'I took so much away from this clinic' said a recent participant in the BHS Somerset-organised Eric Smiley Eventing Clinic.
- 'I will be attending another Eric Smiley Clinic'.
- ' My horse and I learned a lot'.
- 'Engaged us, the audience, effortlessly'.
These are just a few of the comments from riders and audience who took part in the event, or attended the evening Lecture Demonstration held on 13 March at Hand Equestrian Centre, Clevedon.
Eric Smiley is one of only 59 people worldwide to hold the BHS Fellowship, the highest qualification in the British Horse Society. He was also on the Olympic, European and World Equestrian Games Event Teams.
The theme of the day was how to safely and effectively teach your horse to clear obstacles to be found on cross country or show jumping courses. With emphasis on the control of the line of approach and regularity of rhythm the improvement in horses and riders throughout the day was impressive.
