Dorset volunteer honoured with national award

9 Jan 2012

The British Horse Society honoured the individuals and organisations who have supported the largest equestrian charity’s work at an awards ceremony at Saddlers Hall in the City of London.
Gillian Longhurst from Ilminster, Dorset received a prestigious BHS award for excellent service to the Society over a number of years. The award was presented by the Society’s President Martin Clunes.
Gillian, former Chairman of the BHS Dorset Committee has helped to make volunteering fun where members’ seldom leave, a record of loyalty which is in no small part due to Gill’s natural leadership skills and her genuine enthusiasm for the BHS.
Gillian has recently been elected as Chairman for BHS Somerset, a post that she is looking forward to taking on as she aims to make the committee as successful as that of her previous one in Dorset: 'I enjoyed every minute of what I did with Dorset, it’s been fantastic and I had a good committee round me.'
