Over 150 horses and riders took the opportunity to take part in the Diamond Jubilee Pleasure Ride at Gatcombe Park and Aston Farm. The last time that BHS Gloucestershire ran this ride was in 2007 to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of The British Horse Society and they held the ride again this year to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Riders from as far afield as Wiltshire and Somerset had made the journey to attend with some making a full weekend break of it and booking local B&B for themselves and their horses.
One marshall commented on the diversity of horses and riders saying “at one point a lady and her young daughter on a lead rein came along and they were followed by two lads on four year old racehorses that were out for ‘a bit of education’ prior to starting their National Hunt careers. Young children and horses out - it was great to see”.
Every rider went away with a commemorative rosette and the organiser Paula Holland and her team from the BHS Gloucestershire committee would like to thank Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips for allowing this ride to take place over their estates.
Ready to go Ride Control! Ears forward...lets go
