BHS Cleveland 10th Anniversary Camp
Our annual trip to Redcar gave cause for special celebration this year as we acknowledged a decade of summer camping at this seaside town in Cleveland.
The racecourse continues to offer us excellent facilities for horses and humans alike, and Wendy in the canteen makes sure that there is always a need for a spot of dieting, once we all return home!
17 people joined us this time around, for the usual array of activities, plus a few different subjects – including the use of Tai Chi techniques to improve your riding, presented by BHS Approved Centre Inspector Karen Moon BHSAI.
The session definitely had riders thinking about their breathing during the subsequent ridden lessons. In honour of the occasion, all campers were delighted to receive a special commemorative rosette and a branded saddlecloth.
The yearly trip to The Ship at Saltburn was thoroughly enjoyed too – along with the Saturday night bar B Q.
Our Champion is always carefully selected as the person whom we feel wholly enters into the spirit of camp.
This year Judith Bowman was our worthy winner – Judith’s cheery enthusiasm towards every activity and natural camaraderie with fellow campers made her an obvious choice. Judith was somewhat overcome by the recognition, "I don't believe it - well done Mr Tom", were her first words - honourable as ever in praise of her trusty steed!
Judith is pictured here with her best pal Mr Tom, proudly displaying their trophy.
We look forward to welcoming campers new and old to Redcar in 2018.
