Following two days of intense competition involving riders from all over the country, riders from the Bowland TREC Group gained first place in the team competition and second place in the level 2 pairs competition at the Cavallo Horse and Rider BHS TREC Championships 2013. The Club was presented with a trophy as winners of the team competition and another trophy as the highest place British Riding Club - a fantastic achievement for this BHS affiliated Riding Club!
In September, eight riders from the Bowland TREC Group set off from the North of England to the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park to compete in the Cavallo Horse and Rider BHS TREC Championships of Great Britain 2013.
Skills acquired by the riders through qualifying rounds and from training with the Club were about to be tested at the highest level.
For five of the riders this was the first time they had made it to the Championships to ride. Well done to Tracy Howard, Ailsa Gibson, Jess Wain, and Tony and Sal Ingham on completing the two days of competition in challenging weather conditions.
Two of the more experienced riders from the Club competed as a pair in the Level 2 competition with great success. They were just pipped in to second place; an achievement which was even more remarkable after a late substitution of one of the horses, so very well done to Liz Davison and Jane Armstrong-Lancaster. This was a great result given there were 30 pairs of riders who entered the competition.
The major news for Bowland TREC Group was that their nominated team of Liz Davison, Jane Armstrong- Lancaster, Helen Wain and Jess Wain are now the new Cavallo Horse and Rider BHS TREC Team Champions 2013, coming first out of the 11 teams competing at this national event.
Qualifying competitions for the 2014 Championships have begun. The Riding Club is ready to defend its 2013 title and a full winter schedule of training and competitions is planned.
