BHS Manchester started access week on 24 May 2015 with a fully booked pleasure ride around Pennington Flash Country park, Leigh. With over 30 riders taking part, many returning to the ride after its great success in 2014 also for access week, to enjoy the great off road hacking, enjoyable bridleways and unique canal towpath along with the great views. The day stayed dry which encouraged most riders to take part in a second lap completing a 10 mile circuit in total before receiving a beautiful red BHS rosette and their steed an apple.
Catering for first time pleasure riders, a number of Endurance GB members, Western enthusiast and ladies from the hunt the array of support from equestrians were united for Access!
Pennington Flash is open to riders, with great facilities from carparking to access for horse, the tracks which were ridden in the ride are all bridleways and towpaths which are well surfaced for all year round riding. We do hope everyone will return and continue to take pleasure in this striking country park.
Feed back from one of our riders Julie King, “What a great day. Thanks for organizing it and making it such a pleasure.”
With our first ride of access week we are now preparing for our second pleasure ride and access fund raiser with a 12 mile ride around Carrington Moss and Dunham on Sunday 31 May which we hope will achieve the same success.
