A wonderful day was had by all at the BHS Lancashire Pleasure Ride on Sunday 6 September around Darwen, Tockholes and Roddlesworth.
We were so pleased to welcome 28 riders who were keen to get going and explore the fantastic array of bridleways, tracks and paths around the stunning location on such a lovely sunny day. We had a great barbecue to finish and raised just under £450, which will support the work of the BHS. As a charity, the BHS relies on this support and thank you to all the riders who supported the event and the many volunteer helpers.
The ride was on safe, off road routes, which are now protected through the work of the BHS and local bridleway association, DANBBA. The maps for the route used BHS’s Memory Maps and thanks to Graeme of DANBBA for preparing. The maps are part of The Ridemaps Project for recording rides and unrecorded routes. Adrian Bigg at the BHS is leading on this innovative project and will be presenting at the BHS Access Conference in October.
A special 'thanks' goes out to United Utilities who opened up the Embankment, John Smith and Family for use of the farm (and moving cows from their pasture to allow our ride!) and Lancashire County Council who cleared a track to allow us to have a safe, secure ride making the most of the location.
Thank you all for coming to ride and support us - we hope to see you again at the next one! More pictures can be found on our BHS Lancashire Facebook Page along with details of our upcoming events!
