BHS East Sussex Training Clinic Success

18 Mar 2014

The BHS East Sussex Committee is organising 3 training clinics with Debbie Melville BHSI which are being held at Plumpton College near Lewes, East Sussex.

The first clinic took place on Saturday 22 February 2014. The other two clinics will be held on Saturday 22 March and Saturday 19 April 2014. There are three sessions of one hour starting at 9.30 am, 10.30 am and then 11.30 am with a maximum of four riders per session.

The first and third sessions were jumping sessions beginning with grid work and then progressing during the hour to a small jumping course with double fences. In each session there were four riders on their horses or ponies and Debbie Melville coped admirably with the different lengths of strides of these horses.

The second session was purely flat work; some of the horses were youngsters who managed well in a different environment. The work consisted of circle work of different sizes and lateral work for all four horses as well as riding in a straight line down the centre line.

Some of the riders found their training useful for themselves and their horses and have signed up for further clinics.
