An informative and enjoyable time was had by everyone at the first MOT Day organised by the West Sussex Committee on Sunday 22 September. In lovely mild Autumn weather four qualified professionals saw 10 equines and their owners/riders on a one to one basis. Those taking part in the event gave good feedback with comments about the high quality of information they had received.
Isabel Harker, Nutritionist from Spillers Feeds, weighed each horse on the portable weighbridge and gave nutritional guidance and a large goodie bag to each participant.
Master Saddler, Ellie Martin of the Bespoke Saddlery Co. assessed and advised on saddlery fitting.
Camilla Woodward MRCVS of The Arundel Equine Hospital discussed worming regimes and the benefits of worm egg counts according to circumstances.
Chris Keate (BAEDT) of The Equine Dental Practice and BEVA/BVDA qualified assessed and discussed each horse's teeth and mouth.
Westgate Laboratories generously supplied every horse with a worm egg count kit and info pack with all costs paid by them.
Many thanks to Albourne Equestrian Centre for hosting the event, and to the professionals who gave so much to the day to make it a success.
The West Sussex Committee are looking forward to running another day in 2014.
