Modification Order Success

3 Jan 2013

The BHS has welcomed an inspector’s decision to support provision for equestrians along two paths in Cambridgeshire.

The paths were subject to a modification order to upgrade existing footpaths to bridleway and to restricted byway and the upgrades were supported by Shelford and District Bridleways Group.

The inspector concluded that sufficient user evidence was provided to suggest that both paths should be upgraded to restricted byway status, providing access for all non-motorised users.

BHS Director of Access, Safety and Welfare, Mark Weston, said: “We are very pleased that the inspector decided to upgrade both paths to the same status, allowing access for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and carriage drivers and were glad to provide support to the local bridleways group to secure these valuable routes for future generations of equestrians.”
