In Conversation: Professor Derek Knottenbelt on Welfare

26 July 2013

The British Horse Society was delighted to welcome Professor Derek Knottenbelt, Professor of Equine Medicine at the University of Liverpool and one of the world's leading specialists in equine internal medicine, as guest speaker at our first Annual Members' Meeting in July 2013.

Professor Knottenbelt is internationally recognised for his work on sarcoids, ragwort poisoning and headshaking, and received an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 2005 for his services to equine medicine.

Before his talk, Professor Knottenbelt spoke to us about his career, the BHS support scheme 'Friends at the End', and what he feels are the most pressing issues in welfare today.

Watch the interview below - and if you're a BHS member, you can log in to watch the full talk from the afternoon in our Members-Only Area.
