British Riding Clubs kick off their 2013 Championships with the EquestrianClearance.com British Riding Clubs Winter Championships to be held at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire over the weekend of 30 and 31 March.
The Winter Championships are a team event open to both Seniors and Juniors. The Seniors will compete on the Saturday followed by the Juniors on the Sunday. Riders have competed in area qualifiers up and down the country over the past few months to be able to take part, often battling against the horrendous weather conditions we have faced.
The showjumping competition involves two rounds of jumping, with the best three scores from each round counting towards the final score. The second round will be timed and these times are used to determine lower placings if faults alone cannot do this. If there is equality of faults for first place, there will be a jump-off against the clock. In the Dressage arenas the Overall Individual title is up for grabs, as well as team honours.
This year will see a record number of competitors taking part in the Championships. More than 500 riders are expected to attend, together with their supporters and team mates. Entrance for spectators is free and there will be a trade stand village with catering available.
Lorraine Meadowcroft of EquestrianClearance.com said: “We have really enjoyed following the qualifiers and can’t wait to meet everyone at the finals. The team spirit throughout the winter has been brilliant and everyone at EquestrianClearance.com is excited that the championships are upon us.
“I am really looking forward to meeting all the competitors at the weekend who made it through after battling it out in the keenly fought qualifying rounds. We wish everyone taking part much luck and success.”
Championship winners will receive a Masta Show Rug thanks to EquestrianClearance.com – THE place to shop for all your horsey needs.
Full results will be posted on the British Riding Clubs section of this website following the event.
