Final preparations for BRC Championships

10 Sept 2012

The UK’s best amateur horse riders will be busy practising and polishing this weekend ahead of the British Riding Clubs National Championships, which will take place at the Lincolnshire Show Ground on 15 and 16 September 2012. The event is sponsored by NAF.

British Riding Clubs is the UK’s largest movement for amateur riders, made up of more than 430 Affiliated Clubs and 21 Riding Centres and has in excess of 36,000 members. The clubs span right across the UK, from the Orkneys to the Channel Islands.

The National Championships is the largest event in the BRC calendar and will see more than 1,800 competitors take part. Finalists will contest titles in dressage, showjumping, riding test and style jumping. There is also a chance to compete in the Rural Riders team dressage, where six team members ride a test in the arena together.

This year sees the introduction of the first ever elementary dressage class for juniors, which reflects the rising standards within the junior membership.

A trade stand village and catering stands will be available for the estimated 3,000 riders and BRC members attending. Spectators are welcome and there is no admission charge – so it is the perfect opportunity for anyone who enjoyed the Olympic equestrian coverage to come and see some of the stars of tomorrow in action.

Title sponsors NAF will be onsite throughout the Championships and will be giving away lots of prizes to the winning teams and individuals.
