Recently the BHS South and East Kent committee have been encouraging participation in local dressage competitions by providing special BHS rosettes which are awarded to the highest-placed BHS member competing on the day.
Pickles, with owner/rider Chris Kjelsrup, have successfully earned several rosettes throughout the season at Blue Barn Equestrian Centre near Ashford.
Unfortunately, in mid-March Pickles suffered a severe attack of colic, resulting in emergency surgery at Bell Equine, near Maidstone. The operation removed two lipomas attached by cords to the small intestine, one of which had become twisted around the gut, causing a complete blockage.
Pickles is now nearing the end of his eight weeks of box rest and is looking forward to being allowed out into a mini-paddock for a month, before resuming light duties. Chris hopes they will be competing again by September. The photo shows the special sling that supports Pickles's muscles as the scar heals.
Trisha Hayler BHSI and her horse Casindo K are also proud recipients of a BHS Special Award Rosette and can be seen here sporting their ribbons.
For your chance to win a BHS Rosette all you have to do is enter any of the events at Blue Barn Equestrian Centre(see http://www.bluebarnequestrian.com) and be the highest placed BHS Member in your class.
