Each month, we'll be featuring one of our hundreds of dedicated volunteers across the UK and Ireland. If their stories inspire you to get involved, check out more on volunteering with the BHS or email firstname.lastname@example.org for a chat about what you could do.
Lisa Sharp - Education Officer for BHS Cheshire
Lisa has been a member of the BHS since studying at college and first began taking her BHS exams way back in the 1990s!
She felt compelled to do something when the equine welfare crisis was heavily publicised in early 2014, so joined BHS Cheshire Committee as an Education Officer.
This role fits in well with her job, as Lisa works full time, employed by Reaseheath College as a Course Manager, based at BHS Approved Centre Croft End.
Lisa said, "I find that being a BHS Registered Instructor, working in the equestrian industry and competing when I get chance, gives me the opportunity to spread the word of the BHS.
"Being a volunteer on the Cheshire Committee means that I am up-to-date with everything going on with the BHS, and can personally influence education in my area by being actively involved in organising events and activities.
"I'd urge anyone that is thinking about doing something to help horses, to join a BHS Committee - there are so many different aspects that you can be involved with and each one, in different ways, helps horses."
