BHS Members Legal Helpline

The Service

This free service is available to all BHS Friends, Gold (Adult, Junior, Student, Family), Life and Founder members for all your legal queries and is available by phone or email.

You will find the telephone number on the back of your membership card. Please be ready with your membership number before you utilise the service. If you need help then please contact the friendly membership team on 02476 840506. 

The Legal Helpline is operated by Epoq Legal, it is free and is a 24/7 service. During busy periods you can leave a message requesting a call back and a lawyer will be pleased to return your call.

The helpline is always operated by lawyers with a broad range of specialist expertise, including in equestrian matters and an extensive experience in a wide range of both personal and business legal issues, including:

  • Purchase, sales and loan agreements
  • Contractual matters
  • Business and personal disputes
  • Setting up a business
  • Employment and training issues

The team have experience in dealing with issues that members might face in relation to buying, selling or loaning your horse or pony, and contractual/property disputes that may arise as a consequence of stabling/livery.

Furthermore, the Epoq Legal team can help with legal matters of a more personal nature, including advice on wills and powers of attorney, inheritance tax and trusts, relationship breakdown and consumer rights issues, such as neighbour disputes and claims for compensation.

Epoq are authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA number 645296).

The Epoq Legal team is made up of experienced legal professionals who provide expert advice in a sympathetic and jargon-free way. Members are as important to Epoq as equine friends are to our members.

The legal helpline staff are some of the most experienced in the UK, with each lawyer having a minimum of 20 years experience in the legal sector.

Epoq’s aim is to make the law and legal processes easy for customers to understand.

Scotland and Ireland

Epoq will refer your calls to specialist legal advisors in those areas to ensure that you get the very best service.
