Granary Mead Cottage nestles in the heart of the New Forest. The detached cottage is set in the grounds of an old hunting lodge. Excellent accommodation for humans, equines and dogs. Direct access to the forest. A quiet idyllic location. Wonderful riding and carriage driving with little or no road work.
For the horses
Excellent equine facilities. The old brick stables accommodate two large horses up to 17hh, two modern wooden stables ideal for small horses and ponies. All stables are in a secure closed yard. Carriages kept undercover. Ample room on hard standing for lorries, trailers and cars - adjacent to stables and cottage. The eight acres of pasture land is divided into paddocks of various sizes.
For the people
The self-contained detached accommodation sleeps up to six people. One double, one twin and a sofa bed in the large lounge/diner. The master bedroom and lounge overlook a small garden and the fields where the horses graze. There is a large lounge containing a dining area. Entrance hall with saddle racks and storage area for rugs etc. Shower room and kitchen.
Direct access to the New Forest National Park. Numerous gravel tracks for carriage driving. Excellent circular routes of varying lengths for horse riders, with little or no road work. See OS Map Explore the New Forest no 22.
Leaving the Queens Head car park in the centre of Burley on the left turn into Chapel Lane, continue along this road for approximately 2.5 miles. After the long straight stretch, slightly downhill, there is a red post box on the left. Turn here left beside the post box and the white cottage (Southmead Cottage) over the first cattle grid, up the gravel track, over the second cattle grid and the yard and cottage are directly ahead.
