Looking for a way to brighten up those long winter nights? Why not come and join fellow equine enthusiasts, developing your knowledge and skills on the BHS Sage 1, Horse Knowledge and Care course at Beacons Equestrian. Learn in a friendly, relaxed, environment with tea and cake (of course!)

The BHS Stage One is suitable for anyone aged 14 years and over who cares for and/or rides horses regularly.  It is designed to give you a good foundation of equine knowledge and a solid base on which to build your riding skills.

Why should you do the BHS Stage 1?

Working towards and completing a qualification is a great way to learn new skills and increase your motivation and self-confidence.  The skills and knowledge you acquire whilst working towards this qualification will contribute to the increased safety for yourself and horses. The Stage One is also the first rung on the professional ladder of BHS qualifications, and is itself a recognised qualification.

What Is It?

The BHS, Stage 1 Horse Knowledge and Care is the first level on the British Horse Society qualifications scheme. It is a well recognised and industry-respected qualification.

Who is it for?

Whether you are a keen amateur, rider, owner, or professional, 14+, wishing to take the exam or not, this course is for you! Non-horse owners or horse owners-to-be are very welcome.

What wlll l learn?

The BHS Stage 1 course will provide essential knowledge and practice of looking after a well-mannered horse in the stable and at grass. It will enable you to carry out best practice (including safety), to ensure the highest standards for horses and ponies in your care. It will prepare you for the examination.

Cost: £15 per session or £120 if paid for in full in advance. (Please note the cost of the examination is not included in this price and must be booked
independently via the BHS)

Time: 7pm - 9pm.

Please note, this course will run for 12 weeks.
