BHS Stage 3:
This qualification will allow you to hone the skills you will have practised in Stages 1 and 2 and will provide you with the competencies and ability to look after up to four horses in stables and at grass in an unsupervised environment, ensuring that horses, stables, yard and fields are safe and in good order. You will be able to ride a variety of horses in a variety of circumstances. You will be able to begin to school horses and ride according to the horse’s needs. Riding tactfully and effectively, you will understand the reasons for your actions both in horse care and while riding. You must be at least 17 years old and have completed BHS Stage 1 and 2 to take this exam.
BHS Stage 4:
This qualification will show you as able to take responsibility for yard organisation. You will be able to take charge and look after a number of horses and ponies in a variety of situations, ensuring horses, stables, yard and fields are safe and in good order. You’ll have the experience to manage staff and students and show an all-round knowledge of equine-relevant business matters. You will have the ability to assess and improve performance across a wide range of horses, as well as being able to ride and train horses for Elementary Dressage, Novice Horse Trials and Newcomers Show Jumping Competitions. You must be at least 18 years old for the Riding section and 19 years old for the Horse Knowledge and Care. You must have completed BHS Stage 1, 2 and 3.
The training will take place on the following dates:
- Tuesday 26 January
- Tuesday 23 February
- Tuesday 22 March
- Tuesday 26 April
- 9am: Jump
- 10.30am: Flat
- 12pm: Lungeing
Cost: £40 per session or £110 for three sessions.
