Essential Horse Knowledge Certificate Course

4 Feb 2016 - 31 Mar 2016

Do you want to learn more about horses? The Essential Horse Knowledge Certificates (EHKC) are classroom based recreational qualifications. These qualifications have two levels: Entry Level and Level One. They are designed to provide a sound foundation of equine knowledge to the learner. It is mainly a classroom based course, with some practical sections added in. It is planned to be a very sociable and relaxed course. Tea, coffee and cakes/biscuits provided. There is a written exam at the end under exam conditions.

First course running is Entry Level - eight week course with a written exam scheduled in week nine.

The Essential Horse Knowledge Certificate Level One has been mapped to the BHS Stage One Care unit - Unit 3: The Principles of Caring for Horses. This means that learners who have successfully achieved the BHS Essential Horse Knowledge Certificate Level One may not have to sit this unit should they book onto the BHS Stage One exam.

These qualifications are suitable for learners of all ages; however, a minimum age of 12 years is recommended. You can enter at either level, although if you are new to horses or have limited background knowledge we recommend you start at Entry Level.

Time: Thursdays 1.30pm - 3pm or 6.30pm - 8pm.

The Exam date is 31 March 2016.

Price: £160 for the eight week course plus exam fee* (£20 for BHS members and £30 for others).
