Knowing the laws and acts of rights of way on UK roads and highways is important for all horse owners and riders, whether you're keen to get to grips with the fundamentals of access, or you're working on a local access project.
This condensed access training provides a great introduction to bridleways and learning all about the laws and issues surrounding your rights to ride and carriage drive. Dip your toes in to all things access and bridleways and find out more about recording historical routes on the definitive map to prevent them from being extinguished in 2026.
Particular focus will be on:
- Collecting evidence
- Putting a claim together
Presented by BHS Regional Access and Bridleways Officer Chris Peat, this informative evening will give you an incentive to look at your own bridleway network and the knowledge to understand the process to go through to instigate any improvements needed. No experience necessary, just lots of enthusiasm for off-road riding!
Begins at 6pm, food will be provided. You can book online today for a NON refundable £5 (if you are a BHS volunteer, or member of BHS, Equestrian Access Group, BRC or BDS ) or £10 for all others wishing to attend. This will go towards our access work and secures your place on the course immediately.
