The Essential Horse Knowledge Certificate (EHKC) is specifically aimed at the first-time horse owner or carer, parents of horse owners, potential horse owners or anyone else interested in the care and welfare of horses.
This Level One course is suitable for learners of all ages (from 12) and recommended to those looking to develop their knowledge of horse care. This EHKC Level One course has been mapped to the BHS Stage One Care Unit 3: The Principles of Caring for Horses. This means that learners who have successfully achieved the BHS EHKC Level One will not have to sit this unit should they book onto the BHS Stage One exam.
The course begins on 12 January 2016 for eight weeks from 7-9pm.
This course is mainly classroom based at Over Kellett Village Hall which is just off M6 Junction 35, Carnforth, Lancashire. Practical sessions are held at a local yard. You do not need to own a horse to partake in this qualification.
£60 for the course - or £55 if you book and pay before 22 December 2015.
Presenting the course is Helen Wain, BHSAI who trains regularly with Mary Wanless BHSI: both in riding and teacher training, in the biomechanics for correct rider and horse function.
