Great Ponton RidePlease note the change of venue

The EGSF Ride originally advertised as taking place at Oasby, will now be held at Great Ponton.

Campaign Details

Grass sickness is a devastating equine disease. Prevalent throughout the British Isles, it's fatal in both its acute and subacute forms and extremely distressing. Along with the Equine Grass Sickness Fund and the Animal Health Trust, The British Horse Society is supporting pilot tests of a new vaccine which could eradicate this condition forever, but we need your help to raise money for a full clinical trial

The Fabulous Five's EGS Awareness Rides

These rides are to commemorate the lives lost to EGS and celebrate the survivors. The idea to organise a series of rides all taking place during two weekends in May 2014 came from a group of people who had all been directly affected by this devastating disease and hatched the plan through their Facebook page.

The ride taking place in Lincolnshire is as a result of the BHS and the Fabulous Five's EGS Awareness Ride joining forces to raise as much as possible for the fund. Many people are giving up their time and given sponsorship to make this happen and your support will help. Everything you give will go to the EGS fund!

Starting at Heath Farm, Ponton Heath, Nr Grantham Lincolnshire NG33 5DQ - by kind permission of Mr Granville Thompson.

The ride is approximately 6 miles long and although following the route of the UK Chasers Cross Country Course, mainly on field boundaries and through woodland.  For health and safety reasons there will be strictly no jumping allowed.

There are only two quiet road crossings which will  be manned by stewards.

Riders and groups will start off at approximately 10 minute intervals.

If you plan to ride in a group please make this clear on your booking form and when you sign in.

Part of the longer route will take you along a quiet lane, however there are very wide verges and there will be stewards and warning signs for other road users.

Please respect other route users – walk when passing or meeting pedestrians or slower riders.

Entry Fees

Must be booked in advance: adults - £15; children - £5  Fees are non- refundable
