Flu Vaccination Update 10 September 2021

As part of the BHS, welfare of the horse is obviously paramount, however in the current climate the risk of a flu outbreak is at this time minimal.

BRC are therefore comfortable to remove the requirement of a vaccination within 6 months and 21 days of a qualifier or championship. This will be with immediate effect, however we will continue to strongly recommend a 6 month vaccination when attending BRC qualifiers and championships along with maintaining good biosecurity protocols.

In order to compete in a BRC qualifier and/or championships the annual vaccinations (12 month) and initial course must be correct as per G7 of the Handbook.

BRC reserve the right to amend these vaccination rules should another outbreak occur.

BRC COVID-19 Update -

Advice for equestrians during the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak can be found here.

Following the latest government update, BRC are now able to issue the following update for England (updated 19/07/21) outlining the requirements for BRC activities following the end of most Covid restrictions.

It should be noted that whilst the respective governments are producing regular updates, these then require careful consideration and interpretation, to make the guidance relevant to our individual sector. The following updates are BRC’s current interpretation of the most recent government guidance and are subject to change, as and when government advice is updated.

Cyber Security
We have recently been made aware that an affiliated club has been targeted by what appears to be fraudsters who have managed to hack in to some of the Club officials email accounts. Click see the up to date datasheet on internet and email security for clubs and remain vigilant.

Protecting Facebook Events

There have been a number of cases reported to us where Facebook Events have been targeted by phishing scams and spam posts. Unfortunately this seems to be on the rise because of the increase in digital events due to Covid. We have seen it at both regional and national level.

We understand that Facebook is obviously an extremely useful tool for delivering events, so we have put together a new BRC Datasheet which contains some actions that can be taken to help minimise the risk when running events this way.
