Riders can compete in dressage, riding test, show jumping and style jumping.
The Championships include a wide range of dressage classes for both team and individuals. Juniors may ride in junior dressage, junior teams of four, junior elementary and junior pairs dressage, while seniors can enter senior open, senior prelim, senior pairs, senior teams of four and a medium dressage class for individual seniors. Open to seniors and juniors is the teams of six. All team members are automatically included in the appropriate individual classes.
The riding test is similar to a dressage test, but marks are awarded according to the rider’s performance, and the horse’s paces are not considered. For senior teams, two members ride the Prelim RT and the other two ride the Novice RT. Junior team members all ride Prelim RT.
For the showjumping competition, Juniors may ride in the 70cm, 80cm, 90cm or in either of the two mixed classes. Seniors have the choice of riding in the 70cm, 80cm, 90cm or either of the mixed classes. The mixed classes are 100cm and 110cm.
Style jumping is similar to show jumping, but marks are based on the rider’s performance rather than the horse's. Consisting of two sections, 75cm and 85cm, for both juniors and seniors at the qualifiers and championships.
Online stabling booking is now available for BRC Championships. Once your booking account is created, it can be used for any future championship stabling bookings.
Hat Tagging and Body Protectors
All members are now required to have their hats tagged before competing in any BRC qualifier or championship this year. For acceptable specifications, check the Hat Standards Guidelines.
All competitors in BRC XC phases must now wear a BETA Level 3 (Purple Label) body protector manufactured in the year 2000 or after.
If you would like to bring a trade stand to our championships, please contact Meg at email@example.com or call on 02476 840595.
British Riding Clubs have once again taken out abandonment insurance for the three outdoor 2017 Championships that are held on grass, and therefore have a greater likelihood of being subject to weather related abandonment compared to those held at a permanent venue. These Championships are: the Festival of the Horse, the National Horse Trials and the National Championships. This insurance covers these events in the case of abandonment due to adverse weather conditions. Should any of these three events be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, and the insurance policy conditions are satisfied, then all Championship entry fees and stable booking fees will be refunded in full. This excludes all Prelim entry fees for the Championship, and Area entry fees for the associated qualifiers. For all other BRC events, the refund policy as detailed in the current BRC Handbook will stand.
