Fellow of the BHS
From the day you decide to make horses your vocation, the Fellowship should be your ambition, your goal, and the jewel in your equestrian crown. Only by dedication, hard work, open mindedness, fairness and a willingness to never stop learning, will you pass this prestigious examination.
To apply for this exam you must be a Gold Member of the BHS, hold your BHSI certificate and be at least 25 years old.
You will have an in-depth of knowledge and effectiveness in all aspects of equitation and horsemanship. You will be someone to whom others can turn to for advice in all equestrian activities.
Already working full-time in the horse industry, training riders and horses to a high level both on the flat and over fences, you will have sound training and management principles.
You will be an ambassador for the BHS, up-to-date with new ideas, theories, doctrines and inventions and confident under pressure.
You will be able to choose from the ‘General’ Fellowship, or specialise in Eventing, Showjumping or Dressage.
The Fellowship examination usually takes place every 18 months to two years, depending upon demand.

Fellows of the BHS are also eligible to join the Association of Fellows and Instructors of The British Horse Society and the Association of Fellows of The British Horse Society.
