Preventing Portable Peril!

As the Hunter Trial season gets underway please can clubs be reminded of the potential dangers that unfixed portable cross-country fences can cause.

Any portable cross-country fence must be securely fixed to the ground. British Riding Clubs follows the British Eventing guidelines and these are circulated to organisers and are also available to download from the website. Any club which is hiring a cross-country course must inspect the course before it is used and ensure that the venue owner has secured the fences in an appropriate manner. It is ultimately the responsibility of the organising club to ensure that the course is safe.

Downgrading Form 2012

From 1 January 2011 BRC changed the rules regarding downgrading for BRC competitions. As a result of feedback from our members we have decided that anyone who would like to downgrade their horse for BRC competitions can complete a downgrading form and support it with an accompanying letter explaining why they wish to downgrade their horse. We will be looking at each application on a case by case basis, taking into consideration the horse and riders age, past achievements, injuries and current levels of performance. Downgrading officially re-opens on 26 September. Forms are available here. For any queries regarding downgrading please contact Jennie Pallett on: 02476 840597
