Equitation Competition

The Equitation Competition is run by the BHS to offer young non-horse owners throughout the UK the opportunity to compete, win prizes and qualify for a grand final. The competition consists of a dressage test, show jumping course and a set of equine related general knowledge questions.

The two age groups are:

  • 13 Years and Under

  • 17 Years and Under
There will be regional qualifiers held at BHS Approved Centres across the UK and riding school clients from surrounding licensed riding establishments are welcome to compete. The qualifying competitions are organised by individual centres supported by the BHS Approvals Department who carry out the administration. The first and second placed competitors of both age groups from every qualifier will go through to the final.

The 2009 final was held at Warwickshire College on Wednesday 27 May. The generous sponsorship of equine clothing company Puffa and the Worshipful Company of Saddlers meant that the winning riders, trainers and establishments received numerous prizes including training vouchers. To make their achievements even more special, Puffa arranged for International Dressage Rider, Andrew Gould to present Sam and Laura with their trophies at the Royal International Horse Show in July.

We are currently seeking a sponsor to enable this unique competition to carry on, please contact us if you would like further information on becoming a sponsor and the benefits to you.
