The day is for anyone looking to improve their knowledge on retraining racehorses and working with ex-racehorses. It is open to all, but will be of particular interest to coaches and trainers who have clients with ex-racehorses, and to owners/riders of ex-racehorses.
The day is planned to be informative and interactive with plenty of opportunity to discuss what we observe. We are being hosted at North Farm Stud, home to HEROS racehorse retraining and rehoming charity. Chief Executive Grace Muir will be presenting the day for us.

09.30 Registration and coffee
10.00 Welcome and intro
Brief overview of different types of vet assessments, leading on to the elements of the HEROS assessment for new horses intakes.
- 10.45 Group Discussion
A relatively new-intake horse worked under saddle or from the ground as appropriate
Open discussion regarding thoughts on level of training and capabilities of horse. - 11.15 Coffee break

Places are limited to 25 people to ensure a great, small group atmosphere and plenty of opportunity to join in discussions! There will be a lunch break – lunch is not provided, so please bring a packed lunch. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided throughout the day. It goes without saying to dress for the weather as some of the day will take place outside on the yard.
