How to book
Join BHS Scotland for the privileged “Douglas Heart Ride” at Drumlanrig Castle, Thornhill, Dumfries & Galloway, DG3 4AQ, courtesy of Drumlanrig Castle and Queensberry Estate for a ride around the grounds choosing either a 6 mile or a 10 mile route (all distances are approximate).
The 6 mile route is suitable for carriage drivers and there is a separate ticket type to book for this.
The routes are mostly, grass, forest track and estate road taking in beautiful views of the castle, the Lowther hills, Beech Loch and Starn Loch and the of course the stunning River Nith. A beautiful landscape filled with wildlife and diversity. Some road riding will be inluded.
The Castle, which is a category A listed building is the stunning Dumfriesshire seat of the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch and Queensberry. The 75,000 acre Estate, boasts miles of beautiful walks and acres of gardens, which can be visited throughout the summer.
This ride is in aid of Ride Out UK and My Name’5 Doddie Foundation
Proceeds will be split 50/50.
First riders out at 9am. Riders will be put into groups of riders with a maximum of 6 riders in each group and a minimum of 2 riders. Riders will be notified of their times by the Thursday prior to the ride.
Parking at the Castle where there is a gift shop and craft shops and light refreshments are available in the Larchwood Cabin or Castle Tearoom. Toilets on site.
This ride is restricted to 100 on a first come first served basis – stabling may be available for those further traveled.
