Cumbria Bridleways Society is a group of like-minded people who work voluntarily to keep your countryside tracks open and functional. We help to preserve and maintain safe off-road routes throughout the county. Established in 1979, we have dealt with many obstructions on our bridleways, helped to create new routes and regularly organise pleasure rides where equestrians of all abilities get the chance to enjoy some beautiful routes.
We liaise with many bodies to ensure that the voice of bridleway users is heard. We are also building links with cycling and rambling organisations so that when new routes are created, they can be suitable for all. Cumbria Bridleways Society is also researching old routes and running workshops to help others get started on vital work to preserve our rich heritage of rights of way.
