Horse passports are a legal requirement for all horses, ponies, mules, donkeys, zebras and other members of the equine family. They are issued by the British Horse Society for all horses that are not eligible for registration with a recognised breed society.
Passports are required throughout the EU for identification, effective disease control and in order to protect the human food chain.
In this section we answer some of the most commonly asked questions about horse passports and provide information on how to apply for or update your British Horse Society Horse Passport.
