Friars Hill Riding School at Sinnington, North Yorkshire recently hosted a TREC competition for BHS North East Yorkshire.
The bad weather took its toll on the fields so the event was moved indoors, with a couple of obstacles out on the route for the Orienteering phase in order to have a wide enough range of obstacles.
Competitors were all sent off from the yard in the dry but without the sunshine, through beautiful countryside and lots of volunteers went out to man the checkpoints and make sure everyone got back to the yard safely.
More volunteers helped to build a decent obstacle course that tested everyone, particularly the bigger horses negotiating the S-bend and the rein-back. Not many fancied the little jump included in the course but the accessible nature of TREC meant they could attempt what they wished to and just leave what they were not happy to try.
The Individuals class winner was Joy Bradley and the pairs class was won by Sally and Ellie Wilson, with all competitors awarded rosettes.
