After several years of coming close, the Pink Ladies were victorious at this year's Heather Lucas Memorial Mounted Games Competition on 14 May, beating last year's winners, Mercia Treccies, by just one point.
New game The Fish Race certainly proved eventful and I think all the teams will be practising that one ahead of next year's competition! At half time, Mercia Treccies were in the lead with eight points, The Pink Ladies were second with six points, followed by the Border Raiders on five points, but a photo finish in one of the heats turned the competition around and the Pink Ladies took the trophy for the first time.
The Charlie Cup, for the horse and rider who showed the most improvement, was won by Sue Insull and Pidge from the Moss’s Babes Team. The cup was presented by Kim Wolstencroft in memory of her horse Charlie.
Steve Wall, our photographer, took some fabulous images and they are all available to purchase from his website. Thanks to everyone who took part and made the competition so much fun.
