This weekend saw another of Telford Bridleways guided rides in and around the Telford area.
Titled ‘Industrial Heritage to Industrial Unit’, the 12-mile ride took ten intrepid riders along some of the little known bridleways and links between Horsehay and the Haylesfield industrial estate. One section was on the beautifully restored tracks in Town Park and along the Silkin Way, work that Telford Bridleways Association has been involved in to make sure that access and surfaces are suitable for equestrian users.
Anthony Francis-Jones, one of the ride leaders commented, “It is always a pleasure to introduce riders to the routes in and around Telford and to show them the hidden wealth of bridleways that we all work hard to keep open.”
The ride was a great success and the riders coped well with a range of gates, stepovers, road crossings, and long underpasses that are part and parcel of riding in an urban area. All riders are welcome on the other guided rides throughout the year and are especially encouraged to come on the grass sickness fundraiser on Sunday 13 July at the Stirchley Showground.
