Ride Out UK Month escorted rides cover over 500 km in Warwickshire

25 June 2018

ROUKM 2018 groupRiders taking part in BHS Warwickshire's series of escorted rides for Ride Out UK Month racked up an impressive total of 540 km on horseback.

The rides, exploring the lovely countryside around Shipston on Stour, were once again organised by Nikki Inglis BHSII, County Safety Officer for Warwickshire. These popular hacks offer riders the opportunity to enjoy a change of scenery. For those with young or green horses, it's an ideal way to introduce them to doing something different in a new environment, in the company of an experienced local guide.

The hacks covered a variety of routes, including over ground not usually open to the public, and there were great views to be enjoyed from the top of the hills and through bluebell-filled woods.

All riders were presented with yellow and orange hi-vis tabards plus Platinum Year rosettes and pin badges as mementos of the event.

Funds raised by the escorted rides and by Ride Out UK Month events throughout the country are donated to the BHS Paths for Communities Fund, which supports the provision of new equestrian routes. In Warwickshire, a £1000 grant from the Fund helped pave the way for a 1.5 km permissible route for riders at Rugby's Diamond Wood to be opened in May 2018.

Many thanks to all riders for supporting the escorted rides, and especially to Nikki Inglis for dedicating her weekends during May to Ride Out UK Month, and for looking after the riders so well.

Nikki has kindly agreed to organise more rides later in the year, for anyone who couldn't make the May dates or would like to come again. Look out for details to be posted on BHS Warwickshire's webpage and Facebook page.
