The BHS in Dorset present an Equestrian Access Award

26 Apr 2017

John Williamson receiving BHS Equestrian Access AwardJohn Williamson, Senior Ranger, has been with the Rights of Way division of Dorset County Council for some 18 years. For many of those years Carol Shoopman and Jean Heaton our local Dorset County Access and Bridleways Officers have enjoyed a great working relationship with John.

Mary Court, Access and Bridleways Officer, a newbie to the issues and sometimes complexity of Rights of Way has found John's help and advice exceptional and greatly received.  Mary said "We have been so lucky to have had John and still have got his remaining fellow colleagues in the East Division Management Area of Dorset County Council who have responded quickly and efficiently with humour (when needed) to the problems we have contacted them on behalf of our fellow horse riders."

John took early retirement at the end of March this year and Carol and Mary joined his farewell get together to thank him and present him with The British Horse Society Equestrian Access Award. He was overwhelmed with his award and very surprised and grateful. We and his fellow workers will miss him and his happy demeanour greatly.

On receiving his award John said “ It has been an absolute pleasure to have such a good relationship with you for all these years, I will miss it”.
