The first recipient of the Robert Sullivan-Tailyour Volunteer of the Year award for the BHS in Devon was Sarah Howard.
Sarah is a BHSI and Accredited Professional Coach and holds the role of County Education Officer for the committee. Sarah joined the committee in 2012 and has been instrumental in organising and supporting a great many events in the county.
Regional Manager Julie Garbutt said "Sarah is passionate about good training for both horse and rider and is a great asset to the committee. It is wonderful that this has also been recognised by her colleagues".
Sarah was presented with her award by County Chairman, Johanna Searle.
The BHS South West Region were very grateful to receive a legacy from the late Robert Sullivan-Tailyour, former South West Regional Chairman. As a long standing volunteer himself, Robert was always very passionate and supportive of the work that volunteers undertook on behalf of the BHS at a local level. In recognition of this, it was decided by the BHS regional committee that some of Robert's legacy would be used to purchase a perpetual award for each BHS county committee to present to their own Volunteer of the Year, which would be voted for by the committee.
