Riders from Somerset won both the Senior and the Junior Dressage honours at the BRC RWHS Championships at Royal Windsor Horse Show last week.
The BRC RWHS Championships give grass-roots riders a unique opportunity to compete in Dressage competitions and Top Score Showjumping at Royal Windsor Horse Show. All competitors are members of the British Riding Clubs movement and earned their places in these finals at individual riding club qualifiers held across the UK.
The classes are very hotly contested so it was a real achievement for both of the sought after Dressage titles to be heading to Somerset. The Junior title was won by Hannah Francis riding Penddolfawr Thomas. Hannah is 14-years-old and a member of Bath Riding Club. She was delighted with her test and very pleased with her pony, although he did get a bit excited during the presentation.
The Senior Dressage Championship was won by Emily Giles from Mid Somerset Riding Club. She rode Towan Barnaby Rudge (Barney) who she has owned for seven years. Barney is a true family horse, loved by all. Emily's mum hacks him out and also does some Dressage with him and the whole family describe him as their horse of a lifetime. Emily said she was 'over the moon' to have won the Championship.
