BHS Tayside had a small but successful stand at the Scottish Game Fair at Scone Palace from 30 June to 2 July 2017.
The Game Fair is well attended by many involved in the countryside, both those employed in the countryside, such as gamekeepers and land owners, those involved in countryside crafts and those involved in leisure pursuits such as fishing, shooting, hunting, etc.
There are always lots of dog owners there, and hundreds of dogs, of all breeds both large and minuscule! BHS Tayside have had a stand at the Game Fair for the last couple of years, and it is a great opportunity to raise the BHS profile amongst the non-horse owning public, and make people aware of the scope and work of the BHS and their involvement in areas such as countryside access, road and rider safety, welfare, etc...
Quite a number of horse owners, or those interested in horses, attend the Game Fair and BHS Tayside were able to recruit 10 new members this year! As well as answering queries on a range of topics from learning to ride to the new BHS education structure and stages. It is also a great opportunity to promote responsible dog ownership around horses and the Dog Socialisation events, and equestrian access to the countryside.
