BHS Cleveland’s 3rd Annual Show on September 17 was hailed a success by all who took part.

With over one hundred entries across a selection of in-hand and ridden classes, there was ample, varied opportunity for everyone to display their skills, under local Judge Susan Perkins.

Claire Robinson, our fantastic host and her super-efficient team helped make ensure that the day ran like clockwork and over £500 was raised for BHS work in the County.

Of particular note was a pony ‘Hobbit’ who was found collapsed as a foal, on the roadside by Police.  “The transformation is clear for all to see”, was the comment from a delighted Claire Robinson, watching him being skilfully ridden by Jen Wilson.  Hobbit just missed out on a top prize but we will no doubt see him with a red rosette very soon.

In-hand Champion RSPCA Gromit excelled himself with young handler Jessie Hooper.  This pony was taken into RSPCA care with dreadful laminitis and hugely overgrown feet.  He has been given a new lease of life and competes regularly under saddle too.

Stephanie Peacock guided Eastlands Maria to a popular win in the Ridden Championship.  This lovely Connemara pony has gone from strength to strength.

We received many positive comments from competitors who appreciated the relaxed and friendly atmosphere – which was the ultimate goal of this event, designed to attract new starters and novices to the world of showing.

All proceeds from the refreshments on the day go towards County Chair Jill Horseman’s Chile Challenge Ride in support of BHS Welfare.

A big thank you must go to everyone for their unstinting support.
