BHS Cleveland Summer Camp

6 Sept 2016

Ruth Maltby and JimmyWe welcomed 18 campers to Redcar this year for another superb weekend, with an array of activities from beach rides to barbeques (with of course, a few learning opportunities in between) all of which were enjoyed by all.

Vet and BHS Northumberland Welfare Officer Sally Booth offered a most demonstration on vetting a horse for purchase and our theme of ‘Rio comes to Redcar’ meant that everyone received a commemorative t shirt and a medal (for making it through to the last day).

There was a grin from ear to ear when Ruth Maltby discovered she had been selected as our BHS Summer Camp Champion 2016.

“This was precisely what Jimmy and I needed” said a delighted Ruth, who admitted to suffering confidence issues following successive set-backs in training.

Ruth was particularly pleased with the "light bulb moment” to improve her canter seat, which meant she was much better equipped to help Jimmy stay in balance.

“It is a joy to be helped by three different teachers who complement each other so well” Ruth added.  Such nice comments from BHS Cleveland Ladies (and James) in RedRuth are appreciated by the team - who are already looking forward to welcoming campers old and new in 2017!
