Union Jacks were flying at Wrea Green Equitation Centre, who celebrated ‘Prince' the Fell pony’s 31st birthday with a visit from the Olympic Torch.
Ian, resident Seaside Venture Group Riding for Disabled treasurer, carried the torch on the Blackpool link in torrential rain and the following week brought it to the centre for photographs.
Steven Mason, Chris Pollitt’s North West Pentathlete, unfortunately narrowly missed selection for London 2012. Wrea Green are so proud of him and his achievements and the plan is now going towards 2016.
The new Schools Liasion Officer, Sarah Underwood, competed at the National Riding for Disabled Dressage Championships, coming fourth, and has been offered a mount to train for the Paralympics.
As a British Equestrian Federation selected centre, Wrea Green are also holding Hoof courses running over seven weeks to encourage riders to ‘take back the reins’, combined with a cup of coffee and cake!
